Have you ever felt like you’re on this hamster wheel and just get going and going and getting nowhere? It could be in your marriage, your job, your church – like you’re in this loop of Groundhog’s Day where every day seems to be a replay of the day before? Well, I have and it didn’t stop until I made a conscious decision to stop the cycle.
How can you get control of your life and situation? Ironically, not necessarily in the way it would seem. It would seem that you should take charge and grab the situation by the hands and wield it in the way you want to go. But that’s actually NOT the way to do it. You get control of your life by letting go.
Think about a horse and its reigns. If you pull too tightly, instead of doing what you want the horse to do, you make him so uncomfortable he bucks against you. But, if you release some pressure and gently direct him, he’ll take you where you want to go. Life is a lot like that. When you let go of your insatiable desire to control things, you will find things begin to look and feel differently. You’ll stop suffocating yourself and those around you and life will get and feel better.

There’s no time like the present to re-evaluate and re-assess your life and make a change. Tomorrow may or may not come. So take some time today to look at your life and decide what small change you WIILL make so your life feels better to you. Will you dance while you vacuum the floor? Will you turn cleaning up your living room a game everyone in the family can participate in? Will you sing while you cook and think about how good it is to be able to prepare a meal for yourself and the people you love? What will YOU do today to make your life better?
There’s no time like the present!
